Nano Banana interior design prompts: furnish an empty room in any style

By GetStepSnap · Tested October 8, 2026

Take one photo of a room and see it in four styles before you buy a single chair. Name the style, list the pieces, and tell Nano Banana 2.1 to keep the room itself as it is.

Every result below is the first one we got at 1K, resized and nothing else. The starting photos were made with the model.

One empty room, four styles

The same empty room each time; only the style and the list of pieces change.

A phone photo of an empty room with a wood floor, white walls and one window (made with the model)
Before
The empty room furnished in Scandinavian style: a light gray sofa, pale oak coffee table, cream rug, plants and linen curtains
After

Scandinavian

Furnish this empty room as a Scandinavian living room: a light gray sofa, a pale oak coffee table, a cream wool rug, a few green plants, white linen curtains and simple framed prints. Keep the room exactly as it is: the same walls, window, floor, doorway and camera angle. A realistic interior photo with soft daylight from the window.

Every listed piece is there, and the window, floor and doorway stay where they were.

After

Japandi

Furnish this empty room as a Japandi living room: a low beige sofa, a dark walnut coffee table, a jute rug, a paper floor lamp, a bonsai and a ceramic vase. Keep the room exactly as it is: the same walls, window, floor, doorway and camera angle. A realistic interior photo with soft daylight from the window.

Low, calm and sparse, with the paper lamp and the bonsai.

After

Mid-century modern

Furnish this empty room as a mid-century modern living room: a caramel leather sofa, a teak sideboard, a round coffee table on tapered legs, a mustard armchair, a geometric rug and a brass arc lamp. Keep the room exactly as it is: the same walls, window, floor, doorway and camera angle. A realistic interior photo with soft daylight from the window.

Caramel leather, teak, mustard and a brass arc lamp, all as listed.

Before
The empty room furnished in boho style: a terracotta sofa, rattan armchair, kilim rug, macrame and trailing plants
After

Boho

Furnish this empty room as a boho living room: a rattan armchair, a terracotta sofa with patterned cushions, a kilim rug, macrame on the wall, a low wooden table and lots of trailing plants. Keep the room exactly as it is: the same walls, window, floor, doorway and camera angle. A realistic interior photo with soft daylight from the window.

The busiest of the four, as boho should be, with the macrame and trailing plants.

Makeovers: a lived-in room and a house front

Start from what's there now and say what to remove, what to keep and what to add.

A phone photo of a small cluttered living room: a gray sofa covered in clothes, a coffee table with dishes and boxes in the corner (made with the model)
Before
The same living room decluttered and restyled with a light sofa, round wooden coffee table, rug, floor lamp and plants
After

Declutter and restyle a living room

Redesign this living room as a calm, modern space. Keep the walls, window, floor and camera angle exactly as they are. Remove the clutter, clothes, boxes and dishes; replace the furniture with a clean light sofa, a round wooden coffee table, a soft rug, a floor lamp and two plants, and paint the walls warm white. A realistic interior photo in natural daylight.

The clothes, boxes and dishes are gone and the new pieces are in; the window with blinds is in the same place.

A phone photo of a plain one-story house with beige siding, a brown door and a patchy lawn on an overcast day (made with the model)
Before
The same one-story house made over in modern farmhouse style: white board-and-batten siding, black windows, wood door and new landscaping
After

Modern farmhouse curb appeal

Give this house a modern farmhouse makeover: white board-and-batten siding, black window frames, a natural wood front door, a small covered porch with two black lanterns, and fresh landscaping with low shrubs, a green lawn and a stone path. Keep the house's shape, roofline, window positions, driveway and camera angle exactly as they are. A realistic photo on a bright day.

Same spot, driveway and chimney, with new siding, a wood door, a small porch and fresh landscaping. The windows shifted a little, and the bare trees came back in leaf.

The empty-room prompt

All four styles above use this prompt; only the brackets change.

Furnish this empty room as a [style] living room: [five or six pieces of furniture and decor]. Keep the room exactly as it is: the same walls, window, floor, doorway and camera angle. A realistic interior photo with soft daylight from the window.

Tips

  • List the pieces. Name five or six, as we did; the model followed our lists closely.
  • Keep the room line. "Keep the room exactly as it is: the same walls, window, floor, doorway and camera angle" is what we used every time.
  • For a lived-in room, say what to remove before what to add, as in our declutter prompt.

What it costs

On GetStepSnap your first 1K image is free. After that a room takes 1 credit at 1K or 2K, and 100 credits cost $9.90 (plus local tax where it applies), about $0.10 each, with no subscription. Ours took 18 to 26 seconds each. For products instead of rooms, see Nano Banana product photography prompts.

Questions

Can AI furnish an empty room from a photo?

Yes. Attach a photo of the room, name the style and list five or six pieces, and add the line that keeps the walls, window, floor and camera angle. Our empty room came back furnished in four styles.

Will it keep my room's layout?

In our empty-room tests the walls, window, floor and doorway stayed in place. On the house front the windows shifted a little, so check anything that has to match the real building.

Can I use it for a property listing?

It works as a quick way to show what a space could look like. If you use the picture in a listing, say it's virtually staged; the furniture isn't really there.

How much does it cost?

Your first 1K image on GetStepSnap is free. After that a room takes 1 credit at 1K or 2K, and 100 credits cost $9.90 (plus local tax where it applies), about $0.10 each. No subscription.

What happens to the photos I upload?

We store them so the model can read them and so your results stay in your account. We don't sell them or use them for anything else. To have them deleted, email support@getstepsnap.com.
