Krea 3: what it does, what it costs and where to use it

- What does it cost?
- $0.03 an image at 1K and $0.06 at 2K, at Krea's list price.

- On krea.ai, Krea's API, and fal, Replicate, OpenRouter and other partners.
- Can it run on my PC?
- No. Krea hasn't released Krea 3's weights.
Krea 3 is Krea's new image editing model, out since October 15, 2026. You give it a photo, or up to six reference images, plus a sentence about what to change, and Krea says most edits come back in under 8 seconds at 2K. The pitch is that it leaves alone what you didn't ask it to touch: the label on a bottle, the face of the person in the shot.
It's a closed model. There are no weights to download, so you use it through Krea's site and app, Krea's API, or one of the partners that serve it: fal, Hedra, Together AI, Nous Research, OpenRouter and Replicate.
What Krea 3 does
- Edits from a sentence. Put a product in a new scene, swap a sofa, change a material or a color, and keep the rest of the picture as it was.
- Keeps products and people the same. Krea built it so a label stays sharp and a face stays the same person from one image to the next, which is what catalog and campaign work needs.
- Up to six reference images. A room plus three pieces of furniture, or four characters in a new pose, in one edit.
- Native 2K. 1K costs half as much.
- Pictures from a prompt, too. Krea's model page lists text to image, but Krea pitches it as an editing model first.
What it costs
Krea lists Krea 3 at $0.03 an image at 1K and $0.06 at 2K. Its partners set their own prices. On Krea's own site you pay in compute units: the free plan gives 100 a day with Krea 3 included and no credit card, and the paid plans add more units and the commercial license, which Krea's plans list from Basic up. Krea doesn't say how many Krea 3 edits a day of free units covers.
Krea's launch post compares it with two well-known editing models:
| Model | Time per edit | Price per image |
|---|---|---|
| Krea 3 (2K) | Under 8 seconds | $0.06 |
| Nano Banana Pro | 33 seconds | $0.135 |
| GPT Image 2 | 90 seconds | $0.22 |
Krea's numbers, not ours: median time for edit jobs on Krea from September 24 to October 1, 2026, queue included, and list prices per image without reference images. We haven't tested Krea 3.
Can you run Krea 3 on your own computer?
No. Krea hasn't released Krea 3's weights. What it does license for self-hosting is its earlier Krea 2 family, from $1,000 a month per model with a cap of 10,000 images a month. If you want a new image model you can download and run at home, look at Qwen Image 2.1, whose free weights come with a research-only license, or FLUX 3 Image Klein.

Krea 3 isn't on GetStepSnap. For the same kind of job, changing a photo with one sentence, we run Nano Banana 2.1 and GPT Image 2.5, and FLUX 3 for pictures from text. No subscription: packs cost $4.90 for 20 credits or $9.90 for 70, paid once.

Krea released it on October 15, 2026. Its model page still calls it Krea 3 Beta.
