GPT Image 2 Online Generator & Editor

OpenAI's GPT Image 2, in your browser: describe a picture, or upload up to 4 photos and say what to change. Every image runs at medium quality for 2 credits, so the 70-credit pack makes up to 35, with no subscription. Pick it for posters with lots of words; for everyday photo edits, Nano Banana 2.1 does the job for fewer credits.

Images to edit (optional, up to 4)

JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB each. 3 or 4 photos: +1 credit. Leave empty to make a new image.

Two poster prompts, tested here and in ChatGPT

We wrote these two prompts in ChatGPT and kept them because the posters came out well. On October 11, 2026 we ran each once on this tool's exact setting (GPT Image 2, medium quality, 3:4), nothing retouched, to see whether you'd get the same thing here. You do: the same style and clean words. We ran the prompts in Chinese, the language we wrote them in; the English versions below ask for the same things and fit the prompt box. Each one starts from a photo, so attach yours first.

1. Flat mascot poster

A photo of a small white house with a red roof on a green hill under a blue sky and a tall white cloud
The photo
GPT Image 2 poster: the photo on top, and below it the house as a flat cartoon mascot walking over the hill in front of huge blue letters reading BIGGER DREAM, with bubbles saying Big sky, bigger dreams! and Keep going!
GPT Image 2 here, medium quality
The owner's ChatGPT result from the same prompt: the photo beside the walking house mascot in front of huge blue letters reading BIG SKY, with a cloud bubble saying Rolling days.
Made in ChatGPT with the same prompt

The house got legs and a hill to walk over, and every word on the poster is spelled right. ChatGPT wrote BIG SKY where ours wrote BIGGER DREAM: the prompt lets the model pick the words.

The prompt (English version)

Turn this photo into a design poster, 3:4 portrait, split into two equal halves. Top half: keep the original photo, with the same subject, pose, light and colors and a light magazine-style grade; extend the background to fit, but never stretch or change the subject. Bottom half: redesign the most recognizable subject as a flat vector mascot character. Pick its 3 to 5 strongest traits and rebuild them with rounded geometric shapes, bold proportions and a clear shape language, so it still reads when small. A building, plant or object can become a mascot too, but don't force a face onto it. Use thick, clean black outlines, big flat color areas and very little inner detail: no realistic shading, 3D, gradients or fine texture. Build the layout like a brand campaign: oversized bold words behind the character, the character in front, and a comic speech bubble only if it adds something. Let the character overlap or crop the giant words, and use scale contrast, an off-center layout and plenty of empty space. Colors: take 2 to 4 of the most vivid colors from the photo, cleaned up into a small brand palette, with black, white or a pale neutral, plus one bright accent. No neon, muddy grays or candy colors. Write a few short English words that fit the subject's mood or action, in a chunky, compact, slightly rounded display sans serif. Bold, friendly, witty and modern; not a realistic illustration, a kids' cartoon, anime or a social media template.

2. Cut-paper memory poster

A photo of five cats sitting in a row on a white wall, looking out at the sea under a blue sky

The owner's ChatGPT result from the same prompt: the same two-layer poster with cut-paper stickers and the small words Some days we just watch
Made in ChatGPT with the same prompt

Same soft blues, same pale-edged stickers, same few quiet words as the ChatGPT version. The cats kept their colors and their order on the wall.

The prompt (English version)

Turn this photo into a design poster, 3:4 portrait, in two layers. Top: keep the real photo, with the same subject, pose, texture, natural light and colors and a light gallery-style grade; extend the background to fit, but never stretch or change the subject. Bottom: rebuild the scene as a memory, not a copy. Keep only the details worth remembering and boil the scene down to 3 to 6 big flat shapes in matte gouache, cut paper and Risograph color, so the subject still reads at a glance. Make one main picture plus six memory stickers cut from details of the photo: a feature, a gesture, a plant, an object, food, a pattern or a patch of light. Give the stickers thick pale cut edges and different sizes, scattered loosely around the main picture with plenty of empty space, never in a neat grid. A few can tilt or cross an edge, but the main picture stays the clear focus. Materials: opaque gouache, paper cutouts, Risograph grain, slight misregistration and hand-cut edges; no watercolor bleeds, busy line work, smooth vector shapes or 3D plastic. Palette: soft, airy and slightly muted, with pale powder blue, misty blue, sky blue, ivory, cream, light beige and soft gray-green, and only tiny touches of dusty rose. Add very little text: a few small, quiet words that fit the photo's mood, set in the empty space, never a label on every sticker. It should feel like a page from an independent travel zine or a private scrapbook: quiet, modern and relaxed.

More from the same two prompts, made in ChatGPT

Three more of our ChatGPT posters, from before this tool existed: a pet, a street and a lake. With the one beside the tool, they show how far one prompt stretches; the two runs above show you get the same style here.

GPT Image 2 or Nano Banana?

  • Pick GPT Image 2 for posters, flyers and designs with big type and several small words. On the two prompts above, Nano Banana 2.1 got the style right but garbled some of the small words and printed bits of the prompt, like "FLAT" and "3:4", onto the poster.
  • Pick Nano Banana 2.1 for everyday photo edits and anything you make a lot of: it takes 1 credit at 1K, and it also makes 2K and 4K. See Nano Banana 2.1 vs Pro for when Google's premium model is worth it.
  • Want it faster? GPT Image 2.5, OpenAI's newer model, made the same house poster in 18 seconds instead of 34, for the same credits.

Questions

Is this the official GPT Image 2?

No. GetStepSnap is an independent service, not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI. We run OpenAI's GPT Image 2 model through an API provider and charge credits for the images you make here.

How much does a GPT Image 2 image cost here?

2 credits, in any shape. Attaching 3 or 4 photos adds one more. Packs cost $4.90 for 20 credits or $9.90 for 70, paid once, so the 70-credit pack makes up to 35 GPT Image 2 images. Nano Banana 2.1 takes 1 credit at 1K.

Is GPT Image 2 free here?

No. Every image here is paid with credits: 2 for a GPT Image 2 image. There's no subscription, and credits don't expire.

What quality does it use?

Medium, every time. On our two poster prompts, medium matched the results we'd made in ChatGPT. High took about 85 seconds instead of 34 and costs about 3.5 times as much to make, so we don't offer it.

How big are the images?

About 1 megapixel: 768 × 1024 for 3:4, 1024 × 1024 for 1:1 and 1024 × 1536 for 2:3, with 4:3 and 3:2 the same sizes turned on their side. For 2K or 4K, use Nano Banana 2.1 or Pro.

What happens to the photos I upload?

We store them so the model can read them and so your results stay in your account. We don't sell them or use them for anything else. To have them deleted, email support@getstepsnap.com.

What if an image fails or the model refuses it?

Credits spent on a failed or refused image go straight back to your balance. You only pay for images that finish.
